At the tender age of 6 Riswyn wandered into the village alone from the mountains disheveled and dirty with a face marred with the mark of an ancient aberrant creature from the black depths of the earth. While this mark would have driven even those with the strongest of wills to madness Riswyn’s direct tie to Bahamut have provided him with some protection from the affliction.

While he wasn’t welcomed with open arms the church felt it had no choice but to adopt him due to Bahamut’s obvious favor towards the child. They viewed it as a challenge to help the boy learn to control his powers and resist the madness bestowed by the aberrant mark.

Later when being examined by the church he was asked why he was all alone and where his parents were. Riswyn tilted his head looked the priest in the eye and said, “They slaughtered my family so I killed them all”. Then he returned to playing with the toys he had been given.

In the 12 years since his arrival Riswyn’s powers have grown as well as his ties to the community. While the priests have raised him as one of their own, taught him how to hide the mark, and focus his powers there is a brewing tension in their relationship. As Riswyn’s powers increase unfortunately so does strength of the mark. Some have begun to wonder just how long it will be before he succumbs to madness and will they be able to stop him when he does?
